Top Five October Events
October is a wonderful time to visit Buellton, Solvang and the Santa Ynez Valley. In fact, we’ve pulled together some of the top things to do this month only! Check out these events and more by visiting our events calendar. We hope to see you in Buellton this month.
Fox Searchlight’s award-winning film Sideways was released on October 12, 2004. This year marks the 14th year since Jack & Miles put Buellton front and center in their adventure to wine country. Why not celebrate by having dinner at Hitching Post II, sipping Hitching Post Pinot at their new tasting room next door to the restaurant, or visiting the all new and redesigned Sideways Inn and Lounge?

A Los Olivos tradition of celebrating their quaint country town with an early morning family fun run, small-town parade, hundreds of local and regional crafters, artists and food purveyors, wine tastings, tractor show, and more fun for all ages. This special day is a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy country living the way it used to be in simpler times. And best of all, attendance is free! Sign up for the Day in the Country 5k Fun Run and Wine Roundup at Day in the Country!
Hosted at Live Oak Campground off Highway 154, this two day event occurs October 6-7. The pow-wow is open to the public, free admission. Dance contest, drum contest, food booths and arts and crafts vendors. This is a drug and alcohol free event.

- Sanford Winery’s Annual Harvest In The Hills Party: Come celebrate another successful harvest with wine & barrel tastings, the always popular Jim Becker playing your favorite classic songs, and delicious Leonardo’s pizza & gelato! Plus, their winery production and vineyard teams will host hay ride tours through our two estate Vineyards.
- Imagine Wines, Helix, Tiera y Vino, Cholame, Buscador and Esfuerzo host their first Annual Harvest Block Party: 6 Wineries at one location! Enjoy free wine tastings, barrel tasting, grape stomping, live music and food trucks. It’s a mini-block party, and we hope to see you there.
- Ken Brown Wines Annual Harvest Open House: Come check out the harvest activity and join us for this special event at our production winery. Enjoy barrel tasting and tours with Ken, two new release wines, as well as other current releases, and delicious appetizers prepared by Louise’s Kitchen Table.
- Zaca Mesa Winery’s Farm To Table Dinner: Experience expertly paired wines as you enjoy the culinary stylings of Chef Pascale Beale. Brought to you by organic, locally sourced ingredients, these seasonal dishes will be sure to excite your palate. With Autumn in the air and harvest in full-swing, we look forward to indulging in an evening of incredible food and phenomenal wine with you.

Each of the Santa Ynez Valley towns holds their own, individual Scarecrow Fest and associated Contest; the rules vary slightly from town to town, but all have the ultimate goal of appointing a “Best Scarecrow” to represent each respective town in the quest for the Valley-wide Harvest Cup trophy.
