Bringing A Taste of Buellton to You
Bringing A Taste of Buellton to You
From the original recipe to make Andersen’s Pea Soup in your home kitchen, to edible decorating kits to keep the kids busy while you participate in a virtual wine tasting. We’ve pulled together some fun ways to bring a taste of Buellton to you!
A Buellton Original - Andersen's Pea Soup
Anton and Juliette Andersen opened a restaurant in 1924 called the Electrical Café in Buellton, CA; named for the brand new electric appliances found in the kitchen. Juliette brought with her from her native France a recipe for pea soup, and decided to serve it as a special in the Café one day. It became such a hit with diners and highway travelers that it became a staple on the menu, and influenced a name change for the restaurant to Pea Soup Andersen's.
Over the years, whole generations have grown to love our heart warming Split Pea Soup. That’s why Pea Soup Andersen’s restaurant in Buellton has been a favorite of salesmen, tourists and truck drivers since 1924.
One of the most popular handouts in the official Buellton Visitors Center on Avenue of Flags is a printed recipe card from Pea Soup Andersen’s for their delicious Split Pea Soup. We know it can’t replace the experience of stopping in for a smile and some delicious Andersen’s home cooking while in-restaurant dining is restricted. But we hope sharing this original recipe for you to prepare in your own home helps bring some of that decades-perfected, heartwarming Andersen’s comfort to you and your loved ones while we all work together to flatten the curve.
